About Capture the Conversation

Capture the Conversation LLC is an authority-building operation based in Longmont, Colorado. It sells one thing: category authority for expert founders whose name is the brand. Authority Agent is the product surface, and The Category Codex is the entry point — a one-week, $2,500 engagement that decodes the category a founder can own and maps the gap between that category and what they are publicly saying today.

Who runs it

James Clark is the founder and operator. He ran agencies for thirty years, including a digital agency he ran for twenty-two, and shut it down to work as a solo operator running the business through AI systems. His background is category design and jobs-to-be-done research. He became a professional ghostwriter, then operationalized the craft into a repeatable authority-building operation rather than a service that depends on his calendar.

What we actually do

The work triangulates four layers, and every deliverable is built from all four:

  1. Customer — jobs-to-be-done research from real buyer interviews, covering functional, emotional, and social progress.
  2. Category — the narrative framework and the game the founder is building to own.
  3. Company — the founder's specific positioning and differentiation.
  4. Products and services — what is actually sold, framed as vehicles for customer progress.

The method is founder-first. The founder's own category interview authors the position; customer interviews then pressure-test, balance, and enrich it. Category design alone gets the rocket off the ground. Category design fused with real customer insight is what makes the position durable.

Why the category, and not more reach

Most founders at $1M to $5M have already bought reach — ads, podcast tours, posting consistency — and it did not move them. Amplifying a message the market does not recognize buys wider misunderstanding, not authority. The constraint is almost never distribution. It is the thing being distributed. The Category Codex fixes that first, in writing, in one week, in a document the founder owns outright.

The offer ladder

  • The Category Codex — $2,500. One week. The living core of the position. Credits in full toward the Install for 30 days.
  • The Install — the 90-Day Category Authority Engine and AI brain. The Codex fused with jobs-to-be-done interviews and encoded into an AI brain the client logs into.
  • Stewardship. Ongoing operation of that brain, scoped after the Install.

Every client gets their own AI brain they log into. Managed services run underneath that surface, never instead of it.
